Delhi Police detained opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other party leaders at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. They had staged a prolonged sit-in after police stopped an opposition march from Parliament toward the Election Commission's headquarters. Protesters demanded Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The commission and the BJP rejected Congress's allegations. Police removed the protesters around 8 pm, and Rahul was released after roughly two hours at Kingsway Camp.
