Ghana’s Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu said the first tranche of outstanding payments to promoted teachers was expected to be processed by October 16, following validation and submission of their records. During a Sunday visit to the processing centre, he said at least 51,000 records should be validated by Monday, October 5, to enable supplementary payments. The Ghana Education Service faces a 4 p.m. Monday deadline to submit promotion details to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department. Iddrisu reiterated the October 30 commitment on arrears and new salary grades while urging striking teachers to resume work.
