Zamir Says Military Gains Do Not Erase October 7 Failure at Zikim Memorial

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said at an October 7 memorial ceremony at Zikim Base on Monday that the military's subsequent achievements do not erase its failure to protect Israelis in 2023 or its responsibility for that failure. He said remembrance must be accompanied by changes within the military. General Staff members, bereaved families and wounded soldiers attended the ceremony, which was followed by a tour and a panel featuring captivity survivor Avinatan Or. Zamir pledged continued support for bereaved families, survivors and wounded people.
