IDF Ends Gaza Division Intelligence Officer’s Service Over October 7 Failures

The IDF ended the service commitment of the Gaza Division intelligence officer who held the post during the October 7 attack, after Manpower Directorate chief Maj.-Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa accepted an advisory committee’s recommendation. The process considered the deputy chief of staff’s opinion, military investigations, professional assessments of failures before the attack, and the officer’s oral and written arguments. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir determined in November 2025 that the officer bore command responsibility, and a June 30 court decision upheld the process as lawful and within military authority. The officer may appeal to the chief of staff.
