UAE Says Flydubai Copilot Used Crash Axe in Attack on Tel Aviv-Bound Flight

UAE Attorney-General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said on October 3 that the copilot of flydubai flight FZ1073 attacked the captain with a crash axe inside the flight deck and attempted to take control of the aircraft. He described the incident as an attempted terrorist act, while saying investigators were still examining motives, possible links and physical and digital evidence. The airline says the September 30 flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv diverted to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely. Al Shamsi said final findings would be announced after the investigation's procedures conclude.
