Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival 2007 tree-lined lane leading to an Indian border gate near Sialkot; geographic context, not a depiction of the October 2026 Ferozepur–Bedian shooting or diplomatic meetings, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

India summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires in New Delhi on October 3, rejecting Pakistani allegations over a border shooting and protesting what it called illegal cross-border infiltration. India said three people crossed into its territory in the Ferozepur sector on October 2 and continued toward the fence despite repeated Border Security Force warnings. Earlier, Pakistan summoned India’s chargé d’affaires in Islamabad over two Pakistani men killed near Bedian, describing them as unarmed civilians and requesting a credible investigation. India said its force faced an imminent security threat and urged Pakistan to investigate alleged infiltration and drug smuggling.
