Xi Invites 100,000 Young Americans to China and Announces Pandas for Zoo Atlanta

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced an invitation for 100,000 young Americans to visit China for exchanges and study over the next five years, speaking at his White House arrival ceremony in Washington on September 24. Xi said two giant pandas, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, will move to Zoo Atlanta in a few days, and that China and the United States must hold “the line of no conflict and no confrontation.” President Donald Trump said the two leaders had forged “a truly great friendship” and would discuss security, technology and artificial intelligence. The leaders then held talks in the Oval Office, with a state dinner scheduled for the evening.
