Estonia Will Impose National Sanctions on Usmanov and Fridman After EU Delisting

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Tuesday that Estonia will impose national sanctions on Russian businessmen Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman after their removal from the European Union's sanctions list. EU member states agreed to extend sanctions against nearly 3,000 Russia-linked individuals and entities for 36 months, replacing the six-month renewal cycle. Tsahkna said Estonia abstained from the EU vote on removing the two men. He said his government opposed their delisting while supporting the broader extension of the EU measures and would keep restrictions on them through national action.
