Brazilian Police Say Searches Have Not Confirmed Risks to U.S. Diplomatic Sites

Brazil’s Federal Police said on October 2 that it had carried out two search-and-seizure warrants in São Paulo and the area around the Federal District while investigating alleged plans that could endanger U.S. diplomatic facilities. The agency described the Friday-afternoon operation as preventive and part of a confidential investigation conducted with foreign intelligence agencies. It said investigators had so far found no evidence corroborating the reported risks and had identified no suspects linked to criminal organizations. Police said the inquiry would continue with analysis of seized communications equipment and digital media.
