Gaza Officials Say Israeli Strike Kills at Least Five in Gaza City Apartment Building

Gaza health and civil defense officials said an Israeli airstrike killed at least five Palestinians in an apartment building in Gaza City early on October 3. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military. Israel says Hamas has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of the October ceasefire, and has increased strikes on the group in recent weeks. Hamas denies trying to carry out attacks or rebuild its arsenal. The United States brokered the ceasefire last year, but negotiators have not agreed terms for Hamas to disarm and Israeli troops to withdraw.
