Queensland's Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority has advanced a BESIX Watpac and John Holland joint venture as the sole finalist to build Brisbane Stadium at Victoria Park for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The venture will enter the next early contractor involvement phase to settle design details and construction methods. The authority expects that phase to conclude in the new year, with construction planned to begin in 2027. The proposed stadium is set to host the Games' opening and closing ceremonies and athletics, then serve as a home for the Brisbane Lions, Brisbane Heat and Queensland Bulls.
