Havana Restores Power to 45.6% of Customers After Grid Disconnection

Havana’s electric utility said 25 of 26 substations and 130 of 286 distribution circuits were operating at 09:50 UTC after the national grid disconnection. The restored circuits served 393,598 of the capital’s 862,732 customers, or 45.6%. All 45 hospitals had electricity, while 5 of 18 main water-pumping systems were operating. The utility said restoration remained gradual and depended on conditions in the national electrical system, and warned that customers on recovered circuits could still experience separate local faults.
