Typhoon Dujuan Heavy Rain Kills Seven in Eastern Japan, Five Missing

Heavy rain from Typhoon Dujuan triggered landslides across Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures, leaving seven people dead and five missing by 8 p.m. on September 22, authorities reported. Both prefectures requested Self-Defense Forces disaster deployments, while police, firefighters and SDF personnel searched for missing residents. In Sodegaura, a 51-year-old man died after the heavy machine he was using to clear earth fell from a cliff. A woman in her 70s died when a landslide collapsed a house in Sanmu; Kanagawa separately reported one death in Yokosuka and four people missing in Yokosuka and Miura.
