Nepal-Tibet Flood Toll Rises to 750 With 3,044 Missing

Authorities in Nepal and China's Tibet region reported a combined 750 deaths and 3,044 people missing after the August 26 floods and landslides. Nepal's disaster authority said 734 bodies had been recovered, 2,498 people remained missing and 8,186 had been rescued as of 9 a.m. Sunday. Chinese regional officials reported 16 deaths and 546 missing in Gyirong, including 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries. Among those missing in Nepal are 589 foreign nationals and 127 Nepalis traveling with foreigners, and the government has deployed 19,895 security personnel.
