Xi Jinping to Attend BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13

China’s Foreign Ministry said President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation. India holds the group’s 2026 presidency and says the meeting will focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. The 11-member bloc includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. India’s government says the members account for 49.5% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP and 26% of global trade.
