The Israeli military said on Wednesday, October 28, that airstrikes in the Gaza Strip earlier in the week had killed three commanders in Hamas’s military wing. The IDF identified two of the men as participants in the October 7 attacks inside Israel. Its announcement described separate strikes near Khan Younis and in Gaza City. The IDF said Anas Akram Muhammad Humaida, a Nukhba commander who raided the Sufa military outpost during the October 7 massacre, was killed near Khan Younis on Sunday, October 25. Ashraf Mahmoud Yusuf Dahlan, a platoon commander in Hamas’s East Jabalia Battalion, was killed in Gaza City the same day. The military said Dahlan had also infiltrated Israeli territory on October 7. A third commander, Mahmoud Othman Abdullah Alwan of the West Jabalia Battalion’s Nukhba force, was killed in Gaza City on Monday, October 26, according to the announcement. The post identified his military role separately from the two men it linked to the October 7 attacks. The IDF said the commanders had advanced attacks against Israeli troops and civilians during the war and recently, while working to rebuild Hamas’s military capabilities. It described their activity as being “in systematic violation of the ceasefire” and said the strikes removed the threat. The military said Southern Command forces remained deployed under the agreement and would continue acting to remove threats.
