The IDF and Shin Bet said on Thursday that an airstrike in Khan Younis on Wednesday killed Ramadan Muhammad Ashahada Diab, the local leader of the Popular Resistance Committees. The agencies said Diab had advanced attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians and worked to rebuild Hamas's capabilities, violating the ceasefire. Their joint statement described his killing as intended to remove the threat he posed. It said the organization, founded in 2000, is linked to Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and that its members participated in the October 7 incursion, murdering and abducting civilians and soldiers.
