Goldknopf Denies Tax-Payment Link to Rental Dispute After Documents Emerge

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Yitzhak Goldknopf in an archival 2015 portrait, wearing a dark kippah and suit with a microphone and a pale-blue indoor backdrop; contextual portrait, not a depiction of the rental dispute, tribunal proceedings or October 2026 denial, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

Israeli lawmaker Yitzhak Goldknopf denied a connection between a past tax payment and a Jerusalem rental dispute after new documents were disclosed on October 6. The published correspondence concerns a 2021 dispute between a tenant and an educational nonprofit he headed, with proceedings before a private rabbinical tribunal. The reporting alleges that pressure arising from the dispute preceded his later tax payment. Goldknopf said the property and rental income belong to the nonprofit, not him or his family, and are recorded in its accounts. He also disputed the document and denied knowledge of the tribunal proceedings.
