UK Expects Migrant Deal With France to Expire as Exit Talks Continue

Britain expects its “one in, one out” migrant agreement with France to expire on October 1 as discussions over its future continue, according to a UK government source. The source said Britain would like the deal to continue. A French interior ministry source separately confirmed that the countries were discussing the terms of withdrawal from the agreement. The pilot provides for returning people who cross the Channel to Britain in small boats in exchange for admitting an equal number of eligible asylum seekers legally from France, including people with family ties in Britain.
