Canada’s federal government said its inaugural Canada Investment Summit in Toronto produced nearly $500 billion in commitments from institutional investors, banks and funds. The two-day event drew investors from nearly 30 countries managing more than $100 trillion in assets. Announced commitments included a $50 billion CPP Investments-Brookfield Maple Fund, $150 billion from TD over five years and a $52.5 billion Bell-Saskatchewan artificial-intelligence hub. The government also said its Productivity Mega Deduction would cut the marginal effective tax rate on new business investment from about 13% to 6.4% and that it would seek private concessions to operate four major airports.
