India has appointed three serving High Court chief justices as judges of the Supreme Court, following approval by President Droupadi Murmu. The appointees are Sunita Agarwal of Gujarat High Court, Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya of Delhi High Court and Aparesh Kumar Singh of Telangana High Court. The Department of Justice issued separate notifications dated October 5, invoking Article 124(2) of the Constitution. Each appointment takes effect when the judge assumes charge of office. The approvals follow a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium.
