Brazil's central bank reported a US$5.1 billion current-account deficit for August 2026, compared with US$3.8 billion in August 2025. Over the 12 months through August, the deficit reached US$63.0 billion, equivalent to 2.47% of gross domestic product. A US$6.6 billion goods-trade surplus was outweighed by deficits of US$5.3 billion in services and US$7.0 billion in primary income, according to the bank's external-sector statistics. Direct investment inflows totaled US$7.4 billion in August, the bank said.
