Air defenses intercepted and destroyed two drones launched by the Houthis toward the Riyadh region early on September 26, said Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, adding: "We are monitoring and tracking a missile and drone threat toward the Kingdom." He later said air defenses destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles launched toward Khamis Mushait. Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi condemned the attacks as a grave escalation and "a flagrant violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty," and said GCC states stand in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia. On September 24, the coalition said it had destroyed six Houthi ballistic missiles and foiled an attempt to target Taif and Yanbu.
