Türkiye Revokes Bank Mellat’s Istanbul Branch Operating License

Türkiye’s Banking Regulation and Supervision Board revoked the operating license of Bank Mellat Head Office Tehran’s Istanbul branch. Decision 11572 was adopted on September 18 and published in Official Gazette issue 33375 on September 19. The board cited Article 71(1)(b) of Banking Law 5411, which permits action when continued operations endanger depositors’ or participation-fund holders’ rights or the security and stability of the financial system.
