Iran’s Basij Says ‘Janfada’ Volunteers Are Joining Defense Units

Iran’s Basij chief Hossein Taeb said ‘Janfada’ volunteers are being incorporated into defense battalions and will receive basic and advanced ground, air and naval training. The state-run Press TV reported that the government-organized drill began in Tehran’s Imam Hossein Square and moved toward Enghelab Square, with participants formed into 72-person battalions. President Masoud Pezeshkian attended as drones and armed formations were displayed. State outlets described the mobilization as involving 313,000 people and claimed 31.5 million registrations, figures that have not been independently verified.
