Israel Swears In 79 Judges and Registrars After 18-Month Selection Freeze

Seventy-nine judicial appointees took their oaths before President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem after an 18-month broad-selection freeze. The cohort comprised 62 judges and 17 senior registrars, including 6 district, 25 magistrates’, 13 family, 6 juvenile and 12 traffic-court judges. Supreme Court President Isaac Amit and Justice Minister Yariv Levin joined Herzog at the ceremony. The appointees were selected in Judicial Selection Committee rounds on June 28 and July 1, while 14 judicial posts remain vacant and the Supreme Court is operating with 11 of its authorized 15 justices.
