German Police Arrest Suspect in Multistate Power-Grid Sabotage Case

German police arrested a 48-year-old man Tuesday morning near the Weisweiler power plant in North Rhine-Westphalia in connection with alleged attacks on electricity infrastructure in three states. Cologne police said he carried explosives, did not resist, and had stayed in a nearby tent where officers found further charges. Brandenburg police said a September 1 attack near Jänschwalde involved a low double-digit number of improvised explosive and incendiary devices, some of which failed, with related incidents in North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony. Investigators are examining the background and possible connections, and have not publicly established a motive.
