Hebron Governor Says Over 200 Families Displaced During IDF Counterterror Operation

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival March 2007 view over Hebron, with dense pale stone hillside buildings, a central domed building, olive trees and hanging laundry, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes; contextual cityscape, not a depiction of the October 2026 counterterror operation or displaced families.

Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin said on Saturday that more than 200 families had been displaced during an Israeli counterterror operation and that local institutions were forming a crisis committee to help those affected. The IDF and Shin Bet said the operation began in the area from which two attackers had operated, after an encounter that killed two Israeli soldiers. The military said forces were searching for weapons and terror infrastructure and questioning suspects. It described the operation as limited to that area and said residents could leave through three designated points after questioning and security checks.
