U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington had asked Israel, and continued asking it, to curb violence in the West Bank. Speaking at Joint Base Andrews on October 17, he expressed concern about reports that American photojournalist Heidi Levine had been attacked, but said he did not have all the details and was relying on media accounts. Rubio said the State Department had requested information from its embassy and first wanted to establish the facts. He said President Donald Trump did not want a crisis or another trigger for escalation in the West Bank.
