Kenya confirmed its third Bundibugyo Ebola case on October 16, bringing the total to three infections, including one death. The new patient, a 65-year-old woman, is a close relative of the first patient and was already in quarantine when she became ill. The second patient, a 39-year-old man from the same family, was confirmed on October 14; both survivors are receiving supportive care. By October 16, 127 of 130 identified contacts were quarantined for daily checks during 21 days of monitoring. The health ministry said there was no evidence of community transmission.
