Kenya's Ministry of Health confirmed a second case of Ebola caused by Bundibugyo virus on October 14 and said the two infections are linked. The ministry said there was no evidence of spread in the wider community. In an October 8 report, the World Health Organization said Kenya had announced its first laboratory-confirmed imported case on October 6. That patient was an adult who had lived in DR Congo and travelled through Uganda before arriving in Nairobi by air on October 3. He was isolated at Nairobi Hospital and died on October 5 after receiving supportive treatment.
