Nasdaq Closes at Record High as U.S. Stocks Rise

The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record 27,477.31 on October 5, gaining 286.45 points, or 1.1%, as U.S. stock indexes advanced. The S&P 500 rose 51.23 points, or 0.7%, to 7,773.95, finishing within 0.3% of its summer record. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 90.94 points, or 0.2%, to close at 51,267.90. Smaller-company stocks also gained, with the Russell 2000 rising 14.24 points, or 0.5%, to 2,847.14. All four indexes finished the Monday session higher.
