Opposition leader Yair Lapid said Israel’s election would proceed on schedule after a security briefing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday night. He said the IDF, Shin Bet and police were prepared and the public had no reason to panic. Netanyahu had earlier warned during a visit to Tel Nof air base that Israel’s enemies might attack before the election; his office said the briefing presented detailed warnings across several fronts. Lapid requested a further meeting with Netanyahu, the Shin Bet chief and Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg to coordinate election preparations.
