Thailand's Puripol Boonson Wins Asian Games 100m Gold in Record 9.90 Seconds

Thailand's Puripol Boonson, 20, won the men's 100 metres final at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, on September 25 in 9.90 seconds, a Games record. Earlier that day he had lowered the previous Games record of 9.92, set by China's Su Bingtian at Jakarta 2018, to 9.91 in the semi-final. Oman's Ali Al-Balushi took silver in 10.04 and Malham Al-Balushi took bronze in 10.11. The winning time also improves Puripol's Thai national record of 9.94. He is the first Thai man to win the Asian Games 100 metres since Suchart Jairsuraparp at the 1978 Games in Bangkok.
