Gombe By-Election Voting Ends at Some Units as Collation Begins

Voting ended at some polling units in Nigeria’s Gombe State federal by-election on Saturday, and unit-level collation began shortly before 3 p.m. WAT. Presiding officers and assistants started arriving at Registration Area Centres with polling-unit results. The Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency contest will fill one House of Representatives seat. Results are being collated across 31 Registration Areas in Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas, and no winner had been declared when collation began. The election was one of five legislative by-elections scheduled nationwide on September 19.
