The recent mudslide on the China-Nepal border devastated families in over 30 countries. What began as a localized flash flood with a limited impact became a massive international catastrophe. The severe casualties it caused have challenged our imagination of the destructive power of a single flash flood, and humanity will remember it for a long time. Don't assume that global warming only affects coastal areas. Climate change is causing more snow-capped peaks to melt in the Himalayas, making glacial lake outbursts more likely and resulting in larger, instantaneous water flows. Global warming is clearly the deepest culprit behind this disaster.
The Gyirong Port between China and Nepal was suddenly struck by a devastating mudslide. Both the Chinese and Nepalese sides suffered heavy losses.
