Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a Nepalese mountain settlement overwhelmed by muddy floodwaters and debris, with damaged buildings and a stranded truck rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

A flash flood that entered Nepal's Rasuwa district from Tibet killed at least eight people, while the latest government figures reported by local outlets showed 41 security personnel and 14 customs employees remained out of contact. The surge reached Timure around 9 a.m. and damaged settlements, police posts, roads, bridges and power projects along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. Authorities mobilized helicopters and ground teams, though early rescue flights struggled to land. Officials had not confirmed the flood's cause, and the toll and missing-person figures changed as searches continued.
