布干维尔事务部长马纳塞·马基巴提交公投令、联合磋商报告及《美拉尼西亚框架》后，巴布亚新几内亚议会收到2019年布干维尔独立公投结果。公投记录97.7%支持独立，联合报告记录国家政府与布干维尔政府的磋商。议会在当次会议没有辩论文件。马基巴表示，议会仍对公投结果拥有裁量权；《美拉尼西亚框架》为议员接受结果后的情况提供路径，若不接受，则允许依据《布干维尔和平协议》采取另一条路径。
