Dutch Police Arrest 24 After Violence Ends Hague Demonstration

Police in The Hague arrested 24 people after violence broke out during the ‘Wij zijn het volk’ demonstration on Malieveld. Police said participants threw fireworks at officers, damaged property, covered their faces despite an agreement with organizers, and used antisemitic slogans and gestures. Riot police and a water cannon were deployed before the acting mayor ended the demonstration and issued an emergency order. Officers directed participants toward Central Station; arrests included alleged violations of the emergency order and possession of prohibited weapons. Police also said several journalists were harassed.
