Kenya’s nurses ended a nationwide strike on September 9 after their union and the Council of Governors signed a return-to-work formula. Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives Secretary-General Seth Panyako directed nurses to report immediately or within 24 hours. The agreement gives the parties 45 days to conclude negotiations over implementation of the 2017 collective bargaining agreement and to coordinate model nursing-career guidelines. Reports said all 47 county governments would employ Universal Health Coverage nurses on permanent and pensionable terms from July 1, 2026, at Salaries and Remuneration Commission rates.
