We condemn these attacks and this brutal war. Our thoughts are with the victims and with Ukraine. Moldova will keep strengthening its air surveillance and defences with our European partners — and I urge more air defence support for Ukraine.
Yesterday a Russian drone forced us to close our airspace temporarily. Today Russia is striking the points where people cross into Moldova. Russia's frontline is moving further west — which is why air defence for Ukraine is urgent.
Overnight, Russian drones struck the Tudora–Starokazacie crossing point on our border with Ukraine. Two civilians were killed, three injured. The crossing is now closed.
Congratulations, Ülle Madise, on your election as President of Estonia. I look forward to working together on our bilateral agenda and on EU enlargement as Moldova advances towards membership. Wishing you every success in office.
Full solidarity with Germany. Attacks like the one in Leipzig are meant to test Europe’s limits and to undermine support for Ukraine. Russia deploys the same playbook across the entire continent. Europe should stand united against it, and stay ahead of it.
Today Moldova celebrates the Romanian language — thousands of people writing the national dictation together in the central square in Chișinău. Our grandparents kept our language alive through bans and fear. We speak it freely now, and we will pass it on to our children. https://t.co/H3h4JIGBSD
Last night in Chișinău with Presidents @ZelenskyyUa and @NicusorDanRO — and with thousands of young Moldovans who came to celebrate our 35 years of independence. https://t.co/OeWYaaIOcV
35 years of independence, and two neighbours, two friends beside us. Thank you, @NicusorDanRO and @ZelenskyyUa, for coming to Chișinău. Our trilateral was productive: closer connections, stronger support for one another, more security for all three countries. https://t.co/8xGumKviBL
Deeply saddened by the passing of His Majesty King Harald V. I will always remember the warmth with which he and Queen Sonja received me in Oslo, and Norway’s support for Moldova in our most difficult years. My condolences to the Royal Family and the Norwegian people.
Today Moldova marks 35 years of independence. Those who won it did their duty. Ours is to grow the country they created. We honour them, we celebrate what we have built together, and we keep walking firmly towards the European Union. https://t.co/mLUexklFJU
Hours before Moldova marks 35 years of independence, our airspace was repeatedly violated by Russian drones. I strongly condemn this intimidation. Moldova stands tall, independent and free, firmly on its path to join the EU.
At the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv, I called for stronger air defence for Ukraine. Ukraine is holding the line for all of Europe. Every missile and every drone stopped over Ukraine means less danger for everyone. https://t.co/h8MSYjylzb
In Kyiv today for Ukraine's 35th Independence Day. Ukrainians celebrate their independence and mourn their dead on the same day. No nation in Europe pays a higher price for its freedom. Ukraine fights, endures, and innovates. May the next anniversary be marked in peace. https://t.co/HXBjDxvBXv
Ukraine marks 35 years of independence today. Moldova marks its own in three days. It is an honour to award the Order of the Republic to President @ZelenskyyUa — for defending peace and freedom in Europe, and for the courage of the Ukrainian people. Slava Ukraini! https://t.co/FPo5MvIv4c
