The #preferenze, in voting for Parliament, had been absent since 1993, that is, for almost 35 years. Today they are returning because the centre-right chose to reintroduce them, on a proposal from @FratellidItalia. To the left, which today argues that this is not enough, I must remind it that, on this issue, someone who never wanted them in these 35 years and voted to reject them even a month ago is not credible. So the difference is not between those who want more preference votes and those who want fewer. It is between those who put them back into the law and those who did not.
Translated from ItalianOne year ago, Charlie Kirk was killed. He was only 31 years old and was, once again, among young people, at a university, doing what he had chosen to do throughout his public life: engaging, discussing, and defending his ideas. Charlie had made faith, freedom of speech, and dialogue his hallmark. He was a committed Christian, a husband, a father, a young man capable of speaking to an entire generation without ever shying away from debate, even with those who thought differently. He was assassinated precisely while exercising that freedom. One year on, the best way to remember him is not to let the hatred that tried to silence him prevail. To continue believing that ideas are confronted with other ideas, that dissent is not an enemy to be eliminated, and that faith can be lived without fear and without shame. Charlie Kirk is no longer with us. But what he lived for continues to speak. And it deserves to be remembered.
Translated from ItalianThese images show two officers assaulted and injured while doing their duty, during the arrest of an individual. The man, accused of assault, resisting arrest, contempt and causing bodily harm, is brought before the judge: the arrest is validated, but he is nevertheless released a few hours later. These are increasingly frequent instances of decisions that nullify the work of those who operate every day to ensure citizens’ safety, often putting their own safety at risk. The Government will continue to strengthen protections and tools for law-enforcement personnel. But when, after conduct of such gravity and an assault on someone who represents the State, one is released within a few hours, it is not merely difficult to understand. It is frankly unacceptable, because it weakens the credibility of the State as a whole.
Translated from ItalianSixty years later, an Italian wins the Italian Grand Prix in Monza again. Congratulations to Kimi Antonelli, an extraordinary young talent who achieves a historic result. #GPMonza #ItalianGP

Rome and Ljubljana are close not only geographically: we share the responsibility of contributing to a stronger, safer Europe that is more aware of its roots.

We will continue working side by side to make our Special Strategic Partnership even stronger, developing the many ongoing collaborations in high-technology sectors and in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and defense.
Translated from ItalianToday our Government becomes the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. I receive this fact with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. Because stability is not a record to display, but the condition that allows a nation to plan, decide, keep its commitments and earn respect. In these years we have worked to increase employment, reduce unemployment, support families and businesses, strengthen security, manage the public finances seriously and restore Italy's weight and credibility on the international stage. The results are there, but we know very well how many things remain to be done. This stability is not the achievement of one person alone. It is the result of a united coalition that has governed for four years with a shared vision and has chosen to stay together, not against anyone, but to carry out a project for Italy. I do not believe it is a coincidence that, as of today, the three longest-serving Governments in the history of the Republic are all center-right governments. Stability is built when an alliance shares values, objectives and a vision of the Nation, not when the only reason for staying together is to prevent others from governing. But above all, this stability exists thanks to the Italians who gave us their trust in 2022. We have never considered that trust a blank check, and we will never take it for granted. Next year we will return before the citizens with what we have accomplished, with what remains to be done and with our vision of the future. And once again they will decide whether we deserve to continue on this path. In the meantime, the work goes on. And this evening we will see each other in Bari, together with the great community of Fratelli d’Italia. It will be an opportunity to look each other in the eyes, take stock of the road we have traveled and, above all, talk about the road still ahead of us. Forward, with our feet firmly on the ground and our eyes turned toward the future.
Translated from ItalianItaly stands in full solidarity with Germany after the Russian hybrid attack in Leipzig. The security of our Allies is the security of us all. Attempts to intimidate us or to drive a wedge between Allies will not succeed: hybrid actions against any one of us are a matter of concern for all of us, and will be met with a united response. At times like this, it is essential to remain steadfast, to keep working closely together, and to maintain a credible posture of deterrence in defence of our citizens’ security.
I express my deepest condolences for the death of Maria Spinelli, the young Italian woman who fell victim to the tragic shooting in Aarau, Switzerland. My thoughts also go to the other injured people, including, reportedly, two Italian citizens, and to all those involved in this tragic incident. We are closely following developments through the Farnesina and our diplomatic representations, trusting in the work of the Swiss authorities to shed full light on what happened and identify those responsible.
Translated from ItalianOn behalf of the Italian Government, I express my deepest condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. A Sovereign who served his Nation with balance, authority and a profound sense of the institutions, contributing over the course of his long reign to strengthening the ties between Norway and Italy. May the Royal Family and the entire Norwegian people receive our heartfelt condolences and our sincere solidarity.
Translated from ItalianWe will never forget the night of August 24, 2016. At 3:36 a.m., the first terrible shock struck in the dramatic seismic sequence that convulsed central Italy for months, destroying entire villages and hitting a vast part of our national territory. Today we pay tribute to the memory of the 299 victims of the earthquake and once again stand close to their loved ones on this day of remembrance and commemoration. Over these ten years, there have been many difficulties. Far too many delays and false starts prevented reconstruction from moving forward quickly. The Government took on this responsibility and worked with consistency and determination to bring about a decisive change of pace. The figures show that the direction has changed, both with regard to grants awarded and already paid out for private reconstruction and with regard to the resumption of investment in public reconstruction, which had remained blocked for far too long. Along this path, some of the territory's most significant and identity-defining symbols have also begun to shine again. Such as the Basilica of San Benedetto in Norcia, almost completely destroyed by the shock of October 30, 2016. Equally tireless has been the effort to support economic and social recovery, essential to ensuring that the villages and cities hit by the earthquake can continue to be living and vibrant places. Much has been done, but just as much remains to be done. And for this reason, we have no intention of stopping. We will give even greater strength and continuity to that great team effort which, over these years, has brought together every level of national and local institutions, along with the economic, social and productive fabric, and has made it possible to achieve results that initially seemed unimaginable. The goal remains common and shared: to win the challenge of the rebirth of the central Apennines.
