At 06:29 on October 7, President Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog lit a memorial candle at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, opening commemorations three years after the October 7, 2023 massacre. The presidency dedicated the observance to civilians and soldiers murdered or killed in the terrorist attack and ensuing war. Its statement also recognized bereaved families, people with physical and psychological wounds, and returned hostages and their families. It announced later visits to a memorial exhibition and families in Netiv HaAsara, followed by a memorial address at Re'im.
