New Zealand Defers Home Overheating Code Review to 2031

New Zealand's Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment says a review of rules on overheating in newly built homes will wait until 2031, rather than being part of the 2028 Building Code review. Building performance manager Dave Gittings said officials need time to assess how sunlight, shading, ventilation and building materials interact, and will provide informal guidance meanwhile. The New Zealand Green Building Council and building research group BRANZ urged an interim design-stage overheating test. An Auckland townhouse resident told reporters that upstairs rooms reached 35°C during the day.
