Trump Says U.S. Is Open to Engagement With Iran

Read this story on The State of Israel

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Donald Trump in a dark navy suit and bright blue tie, looking sternly downward against a softly blurred outdoor background, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran wants a deal and that he would decide whether the United States engages, adding that Washington is open to engagement. His post did not announce talks, a timetable or agreed terms. Iran's Tasnim news agency responded minutes later that Tehran has repeatedly said it does not seek agreement negotiations with the United States and called Trump's characterization false. The exchange came amid continuing regional fighting and delayed Gulf-Iran talks, with no source reporting that formal U.S.-Iran negotiations had begun.
