Canada Commits C$195 Million to Xanadu Quantum Manufacturing Project

Canada committed C$195 million through the Strategic Response Fund to Xanadu's C$893 million Project OPTIMISM expansion in Toronto. The project is expected to create 275 jobs while expanding research, development and advanced manufacturing for photonic and semiconductor components used in quantum systems. Xanadu said its planned 158,000-square-foot Inception facility will include cleanrooms, round-the-clock testing, heterogeneous photonic integration and quantum-module assembly. The agreement formalizes the federal portion of support discussed in March; talks with Ontario on provincial funding remain ongoing, and the company says the expansion targets manufacturing for fault-tolerant quantum computers.
