세계육상연맹은 우간다의 제이컵 키플리모와 케냐의 에마뉘엘 와니오니가 세운 세계기록을 공인했습니다. 키플리모는 3월 8일 리스본 하프마라톤에서 57분 20초를 기록해 당시 공인돼 있던 요미프 케젤차의 기록을 10초 줄였습니다. 와니오니는 7월 10일 모나코에서 처음 출전한 1,000미터 경기에서 2분 11.83초를 기록해 노아 응게니의 1999년 기록을 0.13초 단축했습니다. 연맹은 와니오니가 거의 27년 만에 남자 1,000미터 세계기록을 깬 첫 선수라고 밝혔습니다.
