Niue Joins Cook Islands Call for Results at Pacific Islands Forum

Niue Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi told leaders gathering for the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau that they should demand delivery on decisions already discussed and make hard choices rather than defer them. Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown similarly said the region was not short of strategies but needed implementation, capability, energy and resilience. At least five of the Forum’s 18 members lacked top-level representation as the meeting opened in Koror. The August 30-September 4 agenda includes climate change, transnational crime, and food and fuel security.
