New Analysis Finds Foreign Investment in Germany Rose 50% to €86 Billion in 2025

A new Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft analysis of Bundesbank data found foreign direct-investment inflows to Germany reached about €86 billion in 2025, up 50% from roughly €57.5 billion in 2024. The total was nearly 11% above the 2015–2024 median. British inflows rose about 284% to €26 billion, making Britain the largest single source, while U.S. inflows fell nearly 44% to €11.8 billion. The institute cautioned that annual flows include equity, reinvested earnings and intra-group lending, and can be affected by large transactions and later revisions.
