Israel and Greece Sign €3 Billion Achilles Shield Air-Defense Agreement

Israel and Greece signed an approximately €3 billion government-to-government agreement for Israel to build Greece’s multi-layered Achilles Shield air-defense array. The system will combine David’s Sling, SPYDER and BARAK MX interceptors, ELTA multi-mission radars and a new Rafael national command-and-control system. Israel’s Defense Ministry called it the first export of a complete Israeli array covering ballistic missiles, other aerial threats and hostile drones, as well as the countries’ largest defense export agreement. A separate €26 million deal covers Rafael Drone Dome systems, while the main agreement provides for technology transfer and expanded cooperation with Greek industry.
